Welcome to the wonderful world of Eugène Marais. The remarkable life of Eugène N. Marais, once described as 'a human community in the person of one man', could be captured in no less than 40 diverse and fascinating themes.

The Eugène Marais Foundation strives to make the life and work of the famous South African writer, poet, natural scientist, newspaper editor, lawyer and 'Miracle Worker' accessible to the largest possible audience in an inter-active, practical and educational way. It will entail the preservation, promotion and marketing of his literary contributions, in particular his natural-science and literary legacy.

The establishing of a modern, educational and creative environment, taking into account the different themes, will take place in, at  and

from the premises of the Paarl First Class Public School (photograph; below) on the estate of the Zomerlust Guest House in the heart of Paarl.

From 1884 to 1887 Eugène Marais was a scholar at the Paarl First Class Public School, currently the famous Paarl Boys' High School (PBHS).

The mission of the Eugène Marais Foundation is stipulated in detail in the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) as well as in the Constitution.
