Eugène N. Marais, digter, skrywer, en natuurnavorser het 'n omvattende nalatenskap, insluitende sy verbintenis met die Paarl en die First Class Public School waar hy formele onderwys ontvang het.
Die First Class Public School geboue - die skool en skakelhuis - is die voorloper van vandag se Hoër Jongenskool Paarl, oftewel Paarl Boys' High - geleë op die oorspronklike Zomerlust Plaas wat in 1991 deur Creata Beleggings (Edms) Bpk namens die Du Toit Familie Trust gekoop is.
Die Eugène Marais Kampus konsep
'n Aksiekomitee is op die been gebring met die doel om die First Class Public School weer te laat herleef in die vorm van die Eugène Marais Kampus. Dit sal geskied met volle onderskrywing van Die Hoër Jongenskool Paarl.
Die idee is dat die perseel gebruik sal word om die HJS se kurrikulum aan te vul en te verryk met Marais raakpunte soos taalwetenskappe, natuurwetenskappe, drama, debatsvereniging en joernalistiek (lesings, voorlesings, musiek opvoeringsens.); in effek dus 'n satellietkampus van die HJP.
Die volgende fases word beplan:
- Oprigting van die Eugène Marais Stigting Trust.
- Die Stigting se formele samewerking met die Hoër Jongenskool Paarl en sy Oudskoliere Bond.
- Die Stigting se bruikhuur/bruikleen ooreenkomste met donateurs van kultifakte.
- Uitvoering van die sakeplan wat o.a. oprigtings- en bedryfskostes insluit asook die werwing van borge en/of fondsinsameling.

Die Eugène Marais Stigting se doel is om die lewe en werk van Eugène Marais en die bydraes van sy tyd meer toeganklik te maak vir soveel mense as moontik op en vanaf die terrein van die Paarl First Class Public School (Eugène Marais Kampus) waar hy van 1885 tot 1887 skoolgegaan het.

Eugène N. Marais, beloved poet, author, journalist and naturalist, has a longstanding and profound association with the Paarl and the First Class Public School where he received formal education.
The First Class Public School complex - the school and semi-detached house is the precurser to the present Paarl Boys' High, also known as the Paarl Hoër Jongenskool - is situated on the original Zomerlust Farm purchased in 1991 by Creata Investments (Pty) Ltd on behalf of the Du Toit Family Trust.
The Eugène Marais Campus concept
An action committee was established with the view to bring the First Class Public School to life by means of the Eugène Marais Campus. It will proceed with the full endorsement of Paarl Boys' High.
The idea revolves around the utilisation of the premises to complement the Boys' High curicculum through Marais-related matters such as linguistics, natural sciences, music, drama, the debating society and journalism (lectures, recitals, music performances, storytelling etc.); in effect a satelite campus of Boys' High.
The following phases are planned:
- Establishing the Eugène Marais Foundation Trust.
- The formal collaboration between the Foundation, Boys' High and its Old Boys Union.
- Lease/loan agreements between the Foundation and the donors of cultifacts.
- Executing the business plan which addresses issues such as start-up and running costs, sponsorship and/or fund- raising.

The aim of the Eugène Marais Foundation is to make the life and work of Eugène Marais more accessable for as many people as possible on, and from the premises of the Paarl First Class Public School (Eugène Marais Campus) where he was a scholar from 1885 to 1887.
